Why Text Learning is more effective than Video Learning?
The following reasons explains why AA4PD management chose text courses over video courses and why employers and auditors think highly of participants undertaking text courses over video courses.
As video courses:
- Are not designed for theory topics but for practical topics only such as complex graphics software.
- Usually gives learners only a walk-through the topic.
- Gives learners a false sense of accomplishment.
- Does not cover all the topic information like text courses do.
- Does not help maintain information such as reading. Most of the learners donβt remember the information after the video is done.
- Does not explain or demonstrate as well as text. They just show slides/ animation and a narrator talks in the background.
- The voice or manner of the narrator can be distracting and boring.
- Does not actively engage learnersβ brains such as reading.
- Are not ideal for most learners as the audio track is a bit too hard for them to follow and they struggle while listening.
- Does not give deeper insight into any topic like reading does.
- Serves for short term purposes only, yet nothing can leave as much impact as reading.
- Moves too quickly to understand and process the information taught.
- Frequently takes learners longer to learn than via text courses.
- Serves learners the information without making them think.
- Are difficult to follow because itβs often hard to concentrate at a stretch for a duration of 60 mins or more.Β
