COURSE OVERVIEW:

In this course we will explore the essential principles and practices required to align workforce strategies with organisational goals and objectives. In today's dynamic business environment, strategic workforce planning plays a crucial role in ensuring that organisations have the right people with the right skills in the right positions to achieve their strategic objectives.

Section A of this course will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of human resource practices and functions, along with relevant legislative, regulatory, and industrial requirements for organisations. You will explore common options for sourcing labour and the impact of technology on job roles within the organisation.

Additionally, you will learn about risk management plans to support strategic workforce planning, the format and features of a strategic workforce plan, and modern philosophies, values, and policies applicable to the human resources profession.

In Section B, you will learn how to analyse strategic plans to determine strategic workforce direction, objectives, and targets. You will assess the organisational environment and identify emerging practices and trends that may impact human resource management. Through consultation with relevant managers, you will identify future labour needs, skill requirements, and sources of labour supply. You will also examine the impact of new technology on job roles and design, review changes to industrial and legal requirements, and develop strategic objectives and targets for workforce services.

Additionally, you will contribute input from consultation into the strategic workforce plan, analyse risks, and develop risk mitigation strategies. Finally, you will work with relevant stakeholders to ensure the implementation of the plan according to organisational objectives, monitor and review the plan, recommend adaptations to account for changing circumstances, and evaluate performance against plan objectives.

Furthermore, you will understand how to apply your knowledge and skills by contributing to the development and implementation of at least one strategic workforce plan. This component will enable you to put theory into practice and make meaningful contributions to the strategic direction of your organisation's workforce.
