COURSE OVERVIEW:
"A good leader should always … "
How you finish that sentence could reveal a lot about your leadership style. Leadership is a fluid practice. We're always changing and improving the way in which we help our direct reports and the company grow. And the longer we lead, the more likely we'll change the way we choose to complete the sentence above.
There is never a one-size-fits-all leadership style for every business – all companies operate differently and certain traits will be more successful in some environments than others. Whether you are managing a team at work or leading a major corporation, your leadership style is crucial to your success. Consciously, or subconsciously, you will no doubt use some of the leadership styles featured in this course, at least some of the time. By understanding these leadership styles and their impact, you can become a more flexible, better leader.
Your ability to lead can be impacted by your personality style and the personality styles of those on your team. But there will of course be times when you need to lead in a style that is best for getting the particular job done. You can modify it when you can in order to work best with the personality styles on your team. But you should also be able to recognise when you need to change what you are doing, not just how you are doing it, in order to lead the team as a whole towards success.
Just as with personality styles, there are numerous ways to categorise leadership styles.
In this course we’ll look at some different frameworks and at some situations in which you might need to apply each one. Then we’ll examine how your personality style affects your ability to lead and provide some effective strategies for leading. Also we’ll provide steps to making your leadership style work.
