COURSE OVERVIEW:
Most people use computers today, but how many of us can properly type?
The world is moving forward with rapid improvements in the latest technology. The importance of computer skills is at an all-time high, one skill in particular has become an ever increasing attribute from staff or a prospective candidate - Touch Typing.
Touch typing is a style of fast typing. Although the phrase refers to typing without using the sense of sight to find the keys—specifically, a touch typist will know their location on the keyboard through muscle memory—the term is often used to refer to a specific form of touch typing that involves placing the eight fingers in a horizontal row along the middle of the keyboard and having them reach for specific other keys.
Touch Typing used to be a skill taught to people who wished to join the administration industry, now not only is it a must within this industry but every other industry can benefit from the skill.
As you are aware, most people who are working will come into contact with a computer during a standard working day. For some, this is a short time and others it can be all day. Now imagine if that invaluable time currently spent typing on your computer was reduced or even halved! Instantly there is more time available for other tasks during the day, so if you have mounds of paperwork on your desk and you find yourself looking at it thinking ‘this is going to take me all day’, then developing the touch typing skill could be the answer.
The productivity of a business depends on how things are done faster. To complete your work faster it is important to develop typing skills. Typing helps you to work comfortably on the computer, it aids in communicating with colleagues and customers, creating documents, and finding new information.
This course teaches you how to learn, practice, and become a Master of Touch typing. The easy-to-use lessons are provided into manageable blocks and there are plenty of exercises to practise what you have learned.
By the end of this course, you will be a confident and natural touch typist and will further increase your productivity while meeting the accuracy requirements.
First you will learn how to place your fingers correctly on the keyboard. Then you will learn how to type the home keys. Then you will do exercises to practice your typing. The exercises so far will contain only these keys that you have just learnt. Then you move on to your next lesson where you learn two more letters E and I. But this time, in the exercises, you practice touch typing the home keys from the previous lesson and also practice touch typing for the new letters. This process goes on like this until you study and practice all the letters and numbers. Then you will learn and practice touch typing for sentences, paragraphs and symbols. Finally, you’ll learn the important symbols and their general rules.
