INTRODUCTION:
Welcome to the Plan & Facilitate Vocational Training for Individuals & Groups course. This course only includes a challenge assessment designed to assess your knowledge and skills required to demonstrate competence in planning and delivering vocational training sessions for individuals and groups, including aligning delivery to units of competency or performance benchmarks, managing learner needs and safety requirements, facilitating effective engagement, and maintaining training records in line with organisational and regulatory expectations.
Planning and facilitating vocational training involves preparing structured delivery that reflects the training and assessment strategy and the required standard of performance, then delivering training in a way that supports learner participation, understanding and skill development. This work requires careful preparation because trainers must align content and activities to recognised benchmarks, support learners with varying foundation skill levels, and ensure training delivery is inclusive, safe and fit for the workplace context. Effective facilitation is critical to maintaining learner motivation and engagement, adapting delivery when issues arise, and ensuring training sessions remain purposeful, organised and compliant with documentation and record keeping requirements.
The course assessment focuses on your ability to interpret training requirements, prepare compliant and learner-focused delivery plans, and demonstrate facilitation practices that meet the needs of both individuals and groups. You will be required to demonstrate how you identify the purpose, target group, resources and training requirements from the training and assessment strategy, access units of competency or other benchmarks and confirm performance standards, and arrange and review delivery plans, session plans and learning resources to meet legislative and regulatory requirements.
This assessment will confirm your understanding of learner support and safety management requirements, including identifying foundation skill and learning support needs within your role, making appropriate adjustments, and accessing specialist support where required. It will also assess your knowledge of identifying and managing safety constraints and WHS risks for training delivery through risk identification, assessment and control, and reviewing learner characteristics, needs and work context to determine how training should be customised for relevance and accessibility.
You will also be assessed on practical training delivery and facilitation requirements, including customising session plans and resources and recording amendments to organisational procedures, preparing a suitable face-to-face learning environment and confirming equipment readiness, and facilitating training sessions in accordance with session plans including sequencing, timing and session flow. The assessment will examine your ability to use facilitation techniques and activities that actively engage individuals and groups and build learner independence, present information using appropriate techniques and aids, monitor learner engagement, participation and progress, and document progress in line with organisational requirements. It will also confirm your capability to identify learner difficulties and training challenges and adapt session plans and facilitation techniques to maintain motivation, engagement and commitment.
By successfully completing this course assessment, you will have demonstrated that you can interpret and apply the core requirements for planning and facilitating vocational training for individuals and groups, including aligning delivery to performance benchmarks, preparing compliant delivery and session plans, supporting foundation skills and learner needs, managing WHS risks in training environments, facilitating engaging sessions with effective presentation methods, monitoring and documenting learner progress, maintaining required training records, and reviewing and improving your training practice through feedback and self-analysis—confirming your readiness to deliver vocational training sessions to required standards.
