INTRODUCTION:
Welcome to the Utilise Nationally Recognised Training Products to Meet Learners’ Training Needs course. This course only includes a challenge assessment designed to assess your knowledge and skills required to demonstrate competence in selecting, interpreting and applying nationally recognised training products to meet specific learner and industry needs, including confirming product currency, applying packaging rules and entry requirements, and aligning training and assessment decisions to learner capability and organisational requirements.
Utilising nationally recognised training products involves translating industry and learner needs into appropriate VET outcomes by choosing the right qualification, skill set or units of competency and ensuring they are applied correctly and compliantly. This work requires accurate interpretation of training package documentation and careful selection decisions because product choice affects training relevance, assessment feasibility, learner suitability and RTO compliance. Effective utilisation of training products is critical to ensuring learners are enrolled in training that matches their job roles and intended outcomes, that training is delivered against current and correct versions, and that assessment expectations can be met in the planned delivery context.
The course assessment focuses on your ability to interpret training products and learner needs, make informed judgements about product selection and suitability, and recognise the practical steps required to apply training products within regulatory and organisational requirements. You will be required to demonstrate how you access and interpret industry and learner information to identify training needs, confirm the learner cohort profile including job roles, workplace context, existing capability and intended outcomes, and research nationally recognised training products that align to those needs.
This assessment will confirm your understanding of product currency, interpretation and selection requirements, including using the National Register of VET to locate current versions and confirm version control, and reading and interpreting endorsed training package products such as qualifications, skill sets and units of competency. It will also assess your knowledge of selecting units of competency or skill sets that address identified skills and knowledge needs, selecting an appropriate qualification at the correct AQF level, and applying qualification packaging rules to select suitable combinations of units including core and elective requirements.
You will also be assessed on suitability, feasibility and implementation requirements, including checking and applying entry requirements to confirm learner suitability and enrolment conditions, checking and applying prerequisite unit requirements, and reviewing and interpreting unit assessment requirements to confirm assessment expectations and feasibility in the planned environment. The assessment will examine your ability to identify and use support materials linked to training products such as companion volume implementation guides, and access and interpret an existing training and assessment strategy to confirm training context, delivery approach and assessment environment. It will also confirm your capability to analyse foundation skill demands including language, literacy, numeracy, digital literacy and employability skill requirements, match these demands to learner support needs, apply selected training products in practice in line with learner needs and regulatory requirements, seek and analyse feedback on product suitability, and document decisions, rationale and changes in line with workplace requirements.
By successfully completing this course assessment, you will have demonstrated that you can interpret and apply the core requirements for utilising nationally recognised training products to meet learners’ training needs, including identifying training needs from industry and learner information, confirming cohort profiles and outcomes, selecting current and appropriate training products using the National Register of VET, applying packaging rules and entry and prerequisite requirements, confirming assessment feasibility, using support materials and existing strategies, analysing foundation skill demands, and documenting and improving training product selection and application through feedback and continuous improvement—confirming your readiness to make compliant and learner-centred training product decisions.
