INTRODUCTION:

Welcome to the Design & Implement Workforce Diversity & Inclusion Strategies course. This course only includes a challenge assessment designed to assess your knowledge and skills required to demonstrate competence in leading organisation-wide diversity and inclusion initiatives that shape workforce composition, support equitable practices, and build an inclusive culture aligned with organisational goals and values.

Workforce diversity and inclusion strategies involve deliberately analysing, planning and influencing how people are recruited, developed, retained and supported so that the workforce reflects the communities served and provides a safe, respectful environment for all employees. These strategies require leaders to understand the organisational and legal context, interpret workforce data, identify barriers and opportunities, and embed inclusive practices into everyday workforce planning and decision-making. Effective diversity and inclusion leadership is critical to improving access to talent, strengthening innovation and problem solving, reducing discrimination and structural inequity, and building a workplace where people with different backgrounds, identities and experiences can participate fully and contribute to organisational performance.

The course assessment focuses on your ability to interpret and apply diversity and inclusion concepts to workforce planning and management, make informed judgements about current practices, and recognise the practical requirements involved in designing and implementing effective diversity and inclusion strategies. You will be required to demonstrate how you apply diversity principles and organisational benefits, interpret regulatory and policy requirements, and critically review recruitment, training and promotion practices for inclusivity.

This assessment will confirm your understanding of key diversity and inclusion requirements, including analysing workforce demographics, turnover and external population data, identifying current and future workforce supply factors, and recognising diversity opportunities. It will also assess your knowledge of setting diversity and inclusion objectives that align with strategic workforce plans, and developing strategies to value, leverage and embed diversity in workforce planning, employment practices and talent management.

You will also be assessed on how diversity and inclusion strategies are implemented, monitored and refined in practice, including stakeholder consultation and engagement, developing management approaches that support inclusive leadership and culture, and communicating diversity and inclusion objectives, rationale and expectations across the organisation. The assessment will examine your ability to plan for and respond to risks, resistance and barriers, establish monitoring and reporting processes, evaluate the effectiveness of diversity and inclusion initiatives, and respond to emerging workforce trends and planning methodologies. It will also confirm your understanding of how to recognise and respond appropriately to diverse workforce characteristics such as culture, age, gender, ability, language, education and belief.

By successfully completing this course assessment, you will have demonstrated that you can interpret and apply the core requirements of designing and implementing workforce diversity and inclusion strategies at an organisational level, including aligning initiatives with legal and policy obligations, using data to inform decisions, engaging stakeholders, supporting inclusive leadership and culture, and monitoring and improving diversity and inclusion outcomes over time—confirming your readiness to lead or significantly influence diversity and inclusion strategy within an organisation.
