INTRODUCTION:
Welcome to the Support Human Resources Functions & Processes Across the Organisation course. This course only includes a challenge assessment designed to assess your knowledge and skills required to demonstrate competence in supporting human resource (HR) functions so that they are aligned with business strategy, compliant with legal and ethical requirements, and informed by accurate workforce data and analysis.
Human resources functions and processes sit at the centre of how an organisation attracts, develops, manages and retains its people. Effective HR support requires an understanding of the relationship between overall business strategy and human resource strategy, as well as awareness of the key HR functional areas operating across the organisation. It also involves understanding the role of internal and external HR networks at local, state/territory, national and international levels, and how these networks can be used to access information, benchmark practices and support continuous improvement in HR activities.
The course assessment focuses on your ability to interpret and apply HR concepts in a practical organisational context, and to recognise the frameworks and requirements that shape HR work. You will be required to demonstrate how you work with organisational HR policies, procedures and frameworks, analyse their strengths and weaknesses, and consider sustainability aspects related to HR functions. The assessment will also examine your understanding of the legal and compliance requirements relevant to HR, along with the ethical requirements and behaviours expected of HR practitioners when handling sensitive workforce matters and confidential information.
This assessment will confirm your understanding of how workforce data and metrics are used to support HR decision-making, including identifying and using key sources of HR data, information and workforce metrics. It will test your ability to use digital technologies to collect and analyse workforce data, and to identify, collate and analyse data to determine key trends that may affect HR policy, practice or workforce planning. You will also be required to demonstrate how you document and report findings from reviews of HR policies, procedures and metrics in a way that informs managers and stakeholders.
You will also be assessed on how you contribute to HR improvement activities, including identifying options for change, recognising potential barriers to HR improvements, and developing practical recommendations to enhance HR functions, policies and processes. The assessment will explore your understanding of the roles and responsibilities of human resource practitioners in supporting organisational outcomes, and how HR support functions contribute to aligning people management with business goals, managing risk, and promoting fair, compliant and sustainable workforce practices.
By successfully completing this course assessment, you will have demonstrated that you can interpret and apply the core requirements of supporting human resources functions and processes across the organisation, including understanding the strategic context for HR, working within HR policies and legal frameworks, using data and digital tools to analyse workforce information, and contributing to the review and improvement of HR practices—confirming your readiness to provide informed, ethical and data-driven support to HR activities in your organisation.
